The process of ASTM A554 Gr 304 Polished Pipe manufacturing is quite a lengthy process to get a great finish. The pipe is produced by hot rolling, cold rolling or welding techniques first. Then it is surface prepared by pickling or acid cleaning to remove contaminants and oxides. It is a multi stage abrasive grinding and buffing process that is called polishing. Irregularities are removed by coarse abrasives, and then finer abrasives are used to get a smooth finish. Uniform polishing is done using mechanical polishing machines and hand held tools. The finishing stage that completes the shine and reflectivity is done by rotating brushes, mops or cloth wheels.
