Composition and Properties of Titanium Fasteners
Titanium fasteners resist corrosion, carry high tensile strength, and stay nonmagnetic under load. These properties come from the same source. A thin oxide layer forms on titanium the moment it’s machined and exposed to air, and that layer rebuilds itself if scratched or scored. That is why titanium hardware used in seawater or chemical exposure does not pit the way plated steel eventually does.
Composition is controlled at the melt stage. Gr 2 keeps oxygen and iron content low, which favours ductility. Gr 5 adds aluminium and vanadium, which pushes tensile strength well past Gr 2 at the cost of some formability. Titanium Fasteners vs Stainless Steel Fasteners
Titanium and 316L stainless steel are both used in corrosion-resistant fastener specs, but they solve different problems on a project. Titanium Fastener Manufacturing Process at Neeka Tubes
Production starts with a titanium bar or rod stock checked against the required grade composition before it enters the shop floor. Bars are cut to length, then turned on CNC lathes to rough dimensions, leaving stock for finishing passes. Thread rolling or cutting follows, depending on the fastener type and the load it needs to carry. Heat treatment comes next for parts where hardness and strength need to sit within a tighter band than the raw mill condition allows. Surface finishing, whether that’s passivation, polishing, or a specific coating request, happens before final inspection. Every finished batch goes through dimensional checks and a mill certificate review at Neeka Tubes, so what leaves the facility matches what was ordered against ASTM B348 and ASME SB348, not an approximate version of it.
